Itraconazole is a Triazole antifungal agent that can treat fungal infections. It inhibits mediated synthesis of ergosterol called fungal cytochrome P450 Oxidase.It is prescribed when other antifungal drugs fail to work. It works well against systemic infections, like cryptococcosis, aspergillosis, and candidiasis. Itraconazole can treat fungal infections in both HIV- and non-HIV-infected patients.
