There are blood parasites known as Trypanosoma congolense that infect cattle and domestic animals, causing acute or chronic illness. As a chemotherapeutic treatment for trypanosomiasis in animals, our Diminazene Diaceturate has seen extensive usage. In cattle, administering this chemical to infected BALB/c mice with high parasitemia led to fast parasitemia control and long-term survival from a potentially deadly disease. The molecular and metabolic processes through which Diminazene Diaceturate works are currently poorly understood, and its impact on the host's immune system is unknown. It also has a modulatory effect on the host immunological response to Trypanosoma congolense, in addition to the trypanolytic effects.
